Fancy Wheels

Pal Jimmy  has 39 two door Deluxe. He is using these wheels and has a set of caps that are just beautiful! So had to take a photo for him.

Now these are 36-39 wide five with the old cut out drums! Hyd inners. They look terrific! never sen that done like that before. Might be touchy when it rains.

Pal Jim came to visit, here are some examples of his art work!
This one is a proposed look of what I am putting together. 49 Plymouth bumpers,46 car hood ornament,Merc grill.

37 is a cab cut by an old friend from years ago Lamont Brooks. Chopped a bit,not much but nice.

This one I really like!

Here is a 32 painted in the same scheme as our teardrop.
Like the Paint scheme of a Gee Bee racer. "Granville Brothers built a couple of these.

And here is the 2016 AMBR winner, he drove here from Southern California.
If anyone deserves that award he does!

We were are a Cadillac show and was speaking with a couple of owners. They have repainted the center emblems and told me how they did it. Sound like a good way so I will do mine for the truck,as I have 18 of them I can select the best and go for it.

Getting it all polished up. Deuce Day in a few weeks.
I replaced my ignition with a rebuilt one and am using Autolite plugs p/n 437. They are a bit longer than the Champion H10 so are further into the combustion chamber. Throttle response is Great!
Also bought a Bosch coil  so hope it all works out.
Now I will jack it up take the wheels and drums off and check the works. Been about 10 years since I have had the drums off. About time I would say!

When I built the garage I did not want or have room for a bench along a wall so bought a work bench from Costco It is big and on nice industrial size wheels so I can move it to where I am working. Then I needed a place for my vice etc so Russ took me down to where his son works and I scrounged an old dump truck brake drum from the scrap heap, used it for a base for my new work stand.
Then I drilled holes and welded nuts under  for all my different tools, now I can wheel the stand around like an OXY bottle ,take it outside where I can beat on things, grind etc. Very happy with it and it only takes up a little space.

Last couple of days I mounted my 46 car park lights and a 46 car hood ornament that I got from Roger. Also mounted a 41 ford tail light for a third brake light. Got the backup lights  in I put them down on the rolled pan below the tail gate. Now I will go to a spring shop and get them to make me two bumper irons for the front left and right.I made a pattern out of flat strap and they can copy it in spring steel. The Plymouth bumpers have the bolts welded in so it all looks smooth.

Rust!

Get this, I have a nice 35 engine with 40 over pistons. That is the engine I want to put in the Hot Rod with the very early ROOF two carb intake and the Powerhouse generator with the Kubota alternator inside Polished heads so it should shine! Probably not much get up and go but still enough for an old boy like me. So after all that I was looking inside the water jackets and I poked around with a welding rod and this is what I took out!

Can you believe it! I did a flathead years ago and had Redi Strip dunk the block Wow what a change and that engine runs nice and cool, not sure if Redi strip is still going but it sure worked!

Gas filler door

Well getting going on the fender gas filler door. This is the first layout.
I have had a heck of a time finding a junk 46-48 Ford car fender.
I managed to locate one on the East coast  after I put an advert on The HAMB. Boy that got results! The Hamb sure has helped me out. So just used my glass bead cabinet during the move I damaged the air pressure gauge so now that is fixed I am good to go.

The curvature of the fenders is bang on,lucky me. So my weekend project is to get out the trusty MIG.

When I was waiting to fix the bead cabinet I went on to another project I will post it now.

This now done ,the sequence is out ,this photo should be last.
