Plugin holes

So Today I decided to fill the FORD holes.
I took my Whitney punch and used some of the scrap from the fender  that I put in the fuel filler cover and punched 8 slugs,7/16  and welded them in the holes.
A little grinding and some hammer work and a skim of bondo and Presto!
 Done!

Fenders

Working on these fenders,Good metal!
Just finished the primer and wet sanding with 320 grit.
Next will be the lacquer. Black! Managed to get a gallon so will lay it on nice and thick. My fenders on the car are Black Lacquer and have seen about 35 years so it holds up well.
I have had these for years and decided to finish them off and will install this winter, would like to use original tail lite brackets "stands" and the early 28 AR style lights.
I will add the finished look in a few days.

TVR sports car

Here is todays project. We delivered some cars and trucks to Port Angeles.
I drove a 1987 TVR an English sports car.
One of the wedge look period that was late 70's to late 80"s.
There were about 1100 made in the period 1979-1988.
It  Has different options from V6  to V8.
This car was fast! I had to remove my shoes so that my feet would not interfere with the pedals!
Once I was in it then all was well and it ran great!

Sanding

Have the long board out and am sanding all the fenders, needs a skim of bondo in a couple of places but just a skim.
Then I will spray one more Hi Build then turn the truck around and put it back in the Garage in September and remove the front fenders so I can clean up the engine area. The wire loom will be tided up then and I will start doing engine accessories.
I have been busy with small jobs on the Chev and the Hot Rod but am now back on the truck!

Airport wanderings

Spent the morning helping out the Canso Boys with the Airport open house.
Nicks restored CMP!

This is Grants work in progress a CMP

Next is the prototype for the CMP. It was designed somewhere around 1937/38 then the finished style is just like Nicks.
Nicks is a good example of a finished one and very well done!
CMP is Canadian military Pattern.
Ford and GM made about 400,000 of these GM had a 216 cu in Chev 6 and the Ford had a 239 Flathead. Same exterior style, all are Left Hand Drive? Europe is RH drive.Go Figure.
The Canso is servicable and has a very Keen group of fellows keeping it going.

Nice ride!

56 Crown Victoria.
Purchased by a fellow in Texas.
Delivered it to the border for transport to Texas.
Nice to drive, drove much like my 56 Chev but since the Chev got front and rear swaybars it corners much better. Something to be said about sway bars.
Apparantly in 56 Chev Police cars got sway bars and mine are copies of that.

Fast train

We spent some time in China.
Just before we left we went on the train to the Shanghai airport. It is about 21 miles or 29km.
It takes 7 min. That tells you it is fast! Check MagLev on goggle for info.
When the train going the other way passes,it is just a slight bump like it passed over a little dip but there is NO dip it is a train going the other way ten feet apart with a closing speed of 862 km/h!! Unbelievable!

Last of the Halibrands

We finished off the last of the Halibrand Speedways today.
I am very happy with the results!
I have allways liked the Kidney beans over the other more popular styles.Like the sprints.
Put on the tye plate under the cage and filled it with lube,It is an XJS12 Diff so is an equalock or posi rear. The posi rears with their clutches need a special additive in the gear oil. I am on the Jaguar Forum and there is lots of info regards this.New to me  but I did it so should be OK.
What is nice is the wheels will be just in from the fenders so no rub and still nice and wide 8 "in" rear and 6 "in" front.
NICE!

After looking at the mounted wheels I plan on making an aluminum disk to cover the extra mounting holes then my mini cap will hold it all down. Just like the photo of the front wheel.

Having an easy day

Sitting at Rustys place.

Friday, March 10, 2017

Here are the start of the Halibrand Kidney beans.
I have had them for years but they are Ford bolt pattern so need to drill for Chev/Jaguar.
Nick is a great machinest so here we are centering then drilling.
Fronts are 15X6 and rears are 15X8, Should look real nice!

So here is one mounted. I may make a flat disk to hide the extra holes.
I still like the Caddy hubcaps  and so may just have two sets of wheels! Hope to get some used tires for the steel wheels as two sets of tires is a bit rich for me!

Rough Grill

I picked up some grill bars and a couple of sets of stainless vertical tubes from Stan.
If I ever crunch mine these will have to do.
Maybe some one would feel sorry for me and sell/donate some better ones!
Allways looking. Do like the Merc grill over the Ford.

Nice dropped Axle

Dan had  Jeremy drop his Axle.
Jeremy does a great job,I believe he made a die or former for the axle to follow, look at that! no distortion!
I have a very old dropped axle on the Hot Rod and the three inch drop looks just right.
I read on the HAMB about after market axles and they all look after market.

I think it is great that they make them as it fills the gap of looking for a dropped stocker but still the dropped originals are hard to beat.
Nice job Jeremy!
