Last salt Flats post

Here is the usual salt flats photo and don't forget to take a bike the pits are a long way from the parking viewing area.

The VW has been racing at the flats for years. In 1999 when My son and I went to the flats this fellow was there,he spent a lot of time talking to Jack as Jack also had a Bug and he still talks about it. This year I met him again and said how my son had enjoyed talking and how he spent so much time talking to a kid His comment was "That's the way we are here"

I agreed and thanked him again,PS he did 176 MPH!!

These three photos of the 32,s are the rollin bones or as they call themselves the Boners drove out from the east coast. The photo of the coupes with the trunks opens is at the hotel parking lot, they were selling Tee Shirts probably to help out on gas costs as they drove out one to a car or so it seemed as they were always just one driver no passenger. That is hard core driving!

This VW is from Denver, young guy driving real unassuming chap,I spoke to him for a long time and he did everything himself. Corvair engine salt thrown everywhere,he did,nt seem to care at all. neat job very different

Here are a few of the spectators cars, these guys drive everywhere! I always wonder what they do to get rid of the salt.
My son and I did a bigtime hose job on our car and teardrop in 1999 when we got back and it still had salt after we dug around it.

Old time 34 ford with flathead Caddy engine

This 34 roadster is real old time, The engine is a flathead caddy pre 48?.
Neat headlights, kinmont brakes and a cast windshield. The windshield certainly is not like a Duval but different. The owner drove it everywhere and brought it out from California.

Bonneville Speed week.2010

What a GREAT TIME! A friend and I left for the salt flats on Aug 12 it takes two days for us to get there. I thought we had a long way until I met some of the east coast guys driving coupes and roadsters then one with a 37 touring!. They drive thousands of miles we drove 900 one way.
This the second time I have been there, the first was in 1999 my son and I went and camped at the end of the road now called the bend in the road. There were about 25 campers and we took the teardrop. Some guys from salt lake city brought 11 VW engine blocks and piled them up and started a fire. magnesium VW blocks sure burn BRIGHT! Could have seen it from the moon!
This time there were hundreds, tents, fancy campers, motor homes, trailers you name it. Surprised by the number of trailers pulling old rods, rat rods, turd rods and gorgeous completed old cars. All got driven on the salt, even saw Good Guys Mr Meadors with his yellow 29 roadster on the salt.
The 32 roadster I took the photo of at 5:30 AM as the sun was coming up Nice!
